Original 1998 Polish Poster Ad, Etudia International Film Festival Gorowski
Date: 1998 Size: 27.5 x 39.25 inches Notes: Large Poster, not linen backed Artist: Mieczysaw Górowski. About the artist: Born in 1941, Mieczysaw Górowski was a Polish graphic artist who became a professory at Faculty of Industrial Design Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He studied at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts in the'60s, and started designing posters his graduating year in 1966. His artist portfolio boasts over 400 poster prints. About the Poster: Beginning in the 1950s and through the 1980s, the Polish School of Posters combined the aesthetics of painting with the succinctness and simple metaphor of the poster. It developed characteristics such as painterly gesture, linear quality, and vibrant colors, as well as a sense of individual personality, humor, and fantasy. It was in this way that the polish poster was able to make the distinction between designer and artist less apparent.
